Warped Tour Brings Back "The Parent Ticket" Amid Backlash

By: Amy Cooper, ACRONYM

If you're a parent to a child under the age of 16 and happen to still like the music they play at Warped Tour, you just might be able to get in for free.

Initially, Warped Tour had announced that they would not be doing the "parent" ticket anymore, i.e. letting the parents in for free with a ticketed teen.

The statement initially said the following (according to Alternative Press):

No - unfortunately we are no longer offering the FREE Parent Ticket.

Over 21 years the Warped Tour audience has always been for the counter culture teenager. As our audience grew up and changed and as new fans came to the shows, we've worked hard to adjust with them and continue to keep the tour relevant.

In 2015 and 2016, we tested implementing a "Parent Get's In For Free" program that allowed (1) parent to be admitted to the show for Free if they were bringing a child that had a paid ticket.

Unfortunately in 2017 and moving forward, the tour is "going back to our roots" and with the booking of a more balanced lineup including many legacy acts, we are no longer offering the FREE Parent Ticket.

However, any parents who buys a ticket will still be able to come to our Reverse Daycare Tent where they can hang out, watch TV, and keep an eye on their child.""

There was a considerable amount of backlash associated with the decision from Parents that either accompanied their child for the sake of safety (or secretly were crabby they couldn't see their "punk rawk" idols from yesteryear), because Warped Tour has re-instated the parent ticket.

The new rules can be found at their site in the Warped 101 section, and note that the parent must be 28 or older, must be the legal guardian, parents cannot switch in the middle of the day, and older siblings do not count as a "legal guardian."

If you have already purchased a ticket, and do not find someone to take it off your hands, bring the ticket with you to the yellow guest list tent, and they will assist you from there.
